February 3, 2012: Tax reform critics are continuing to try and bluff their fellow Alaskans into believing the state's oil tax regime is competitive. House Republican leaders did not have enough votes Monday to pass a $600 million tax holiday for owners of a natural gas pipeline to be built from the North Slope to the lower 48. After a 2 1/2 hour closed-door meeting of Republican legislators, leaders abruptly pulled the measure, House Bil 519, from a floor vote and back to committee for changes.
