Easy answer.....

After reading my opinion column in the Anchorage Daily News this morning, fellow Alaskan blogger Tom Lamb, asks "Why is it that Andrew Halcro who is so critical of Palin, wanted to be on the same ticket with her."

That's an easy answer; because I believed Sarah Palin had the qualifications to be a terrific Lt. Governor. And watching her struggle to give coherent answers on the national stage, I believe more today than ever before she has the qualifications to be a terrific Lt. Governor.

Secret Behind Sarah Palin's favor?

I know Gov. Sarah Palin has rough/raw edges, can seem at times like a simpleton, and is not always smooth in her speech. Yet, as you personally have experienced, it is unwise for her opponents to underestimate her. I suspect this is because her confidence (and thus the populist favor she receives) comes from outside herself, as expressed in Psalm 27 of the Bible: "The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread? When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. Though a host encamp against me, In spite of this I shall be confident..." Perhaps God has brought Sarah Palin to the forefront to be a sore reminder to America that pride goes before stumbling, and humbling before exaltation. The more you and the liberal media try to humiliate/humble someone who has personally humbled himself/herself before Him, the more He will exalt him/her and give him/her favor with the people - "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth..."

This is not Kansas

Sara Palin will have access to Nuclear lauch codes. How scary is that? If a situation arises, she is the ONE. Mortality tables tell us that Senator McCain has a 1 in 3 chance of not completing his term in office, god forbid. But if that should happen you would have a Hockey Mom making a decision whose only foreign trips where to Mexico (Vacation) and Canada (Hockey.)Ms. Palin has basically run a Mayberry RFD town for most of her political career. She is sooooo out of her league, you have to question those that put this "likeable" beauty queen" with folksy lines 2nd in line for the most powerful and important job in the entire world.

She will be gone soon

Just be patient everyone. In a few months, Mrs. Palin will be back into obscurity as quickly as she emerged from the coldness of Alaska's oil-crazed frontier. She is a nothing who became a little something. She will soon go back to being a nothing. And that is something we can all be thankful for.

Sarah is a dummy

I'm sorry, folks, but you just have to admit it. Sarah is a dummy. She's pretty and has a pretty girl's expectation that no one is really listening so say what you want, but she's just a dummy. She's not the least bit curious about the nation or its affairs and never has been. Question: 'Do you read books?' ans: 'Not really' Q:'Can you name a newspaper you read?' A:'Sure, lots' (meaning no, I don't read newspapers) She's unaware of things because she's uninterested in things. Any damn fool can listen to the evening news and the Daily Show and know more about current affairs than she does. She just doesn't care. Because people like you let her get ahead anyway. It's an insult to the American people to have a woman of this little interest offered as vice president to a man who is 72 years old and has had four different cancers so far. Just a damn insult.

Palins qualifications??

I think Palin has got great qualifications to be a bartender. Or maybe a pole dancer. I'm not sure I would want her big mouth one heart beat away from running any state....well maybe Alaska....oh thats right she was actually elected Governor there. No wonder Alaska is viewed as a bunch of out of touch hill billy losers. Her selection shows just how stupid McCain is and how desperate the Republicans are in this election.

Why?

Can't you channel all this time and energy with your anti-Palin site towards something more constructive? Run for another political office, do more charity work, spend more time with your family. There must be something you can better do with all this extra time you have on your hands to run this sarcastic site. Just a thought...

Will Palin Cheat?

On October 8, 2004 George W Bush debated John Kerry. Clearly visible under Bush's jacket was the square outline of something, widely believed to be part of a system to provide Bush with electronic crib notes during the debate, and examination of the video showed Bush always keeping one side of his head (ear) turned away from the camera. I don't recall that the matter was pursued or resolved but there was much feeling that the Roveans will do anything to win and that dopey Bush was wore a wire to his debate. Now this afternoon another board finds posters wondering what might lurk, come Thursday night, under Palin's long hair. My own thought is that no amount of cramming can turn Palin into a policy scholar; she can't form a complete sentence. She is a bunch of talking points looking for a mind. What happens will depend on how willing the moderator is to press Palin for an actual response to the actual question. Is Gwen Ifill known to be amenable to playing Keep-Away?

Sarah Palin and the economy

I am not a naive child. The evolution of the downward financial nosedive is a consequence in direct proportion to the continued lack of response by either party to devote unwavering support to reform policies addressing corporate greed and corruption. Today, after many, many days of the same, Atlanta residents are camping out for hours at gas stations, even overnight, trying to score enough gas to make it home and to work, school, day care....the list goes on and on. I happen to mention this because I live in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Did I fail to mention that regular gas is going for $4.29 a gallon at the closest gas station...well, I just did. On my way to the gas station there an intersection not far from the county line where few police officers patrol....due to the gas shortage county officers are not allowed to drive as much as they need to, and there are two major interstates connecting in the nearby vicinity. At dusk this intersection, and the on ramps are staked out by homeless people who spend most of the day foraging around the neighborhoods for odd jobs, a meal, or anything valuable from the dumpsters behind the strip mall. Mostly they are men but recently women and few couples with children have been spotted. We have no emergency shelters in my city because the residents of the nicer neighborhoods have effectively prevented them from being established so close to where they shop or live. The children are not here by choice. They are the victims of criminals who control the lives of the "little people" like you and I who make up the backbone of America. This is the real legacy of the Bush era. Open your eyes and look in your own neighborhoods for the human fallout being paid in lives wasted, jobs lost, stores closed, services non existent. Then vote. You owe allegiance to your children.....not a political party.

lt governor

I think Diane Benson would make a great match with you. Even though she is a democrat.

Op Ed

I wouldn't lower yourself to responding to anything a failed 9-time candidate for public office has to say. There's a reason people in his own party don't give him money. ON another note -I came up with a good phrase: Real Alaskan Girls don't wear Lipstick...... I also like: Real Alaskans own Sled Dogs -not pitbulls.

Megalomania

As the old tale goes, flying too close to the sun will result in a thermal reality check.Icarus learned this lesson the hard way, falling back to earth in a heap of waxed feathers and a dose of humility. Sarah,on the other hand, is being shielded from the heat of scrutiny by party hacks and spin doctors. When the party uses Guliani as a switch hitter for her, something is awry. If she wants to ascend to the heavens, let her fly with her own angelic wings. Revisionist history of her public record and thwarting of her non-scripted public appearances is unacceptable. Turn the stage lights on and debate the issues! Hiding behind populist platitudes, parsed rhetoric, and chorus girl make-up doesn't qualify you to possibly be the leader of the free world.

Flutter of Butterfly wings

What a different discussion we would be having if Andrew won the governorship, and he was asked to be the VP candidate. Imagine the possibilities....

Palin for Lt. Gov.

Well put Andrew. She is way out her league! Just review the Katie Couric interview from this past week. Palin had much difficulty at best, in any attempt to answer the questions put to her from Couric. Palin should do the noble and right thing step down from the republican ticket as soon as possible and avoid any further embarrassment to herself and the State of Alaska.

Palin

Andrew, even though I live in lower Alabama where education is not the greatest, honestly in goverenment is lacking, experience in state or city government is non-existence and the politicians are corrupt. I have discovered even in the most Northern part of the US we have the same. Palin should dismiss the thought of debating and return to her fishing and hunting venue. Yes, I am a woman and would never consider voting for the Republican ticket with her as VP under any condition. All women can expose their beauty and sometimes a shut mouth is much for attractive than any eye glasses that can be purchased on the market.

Alaska, Sarah Palin, etc.

I'll say this about Sarah Palin: she's provided those of us in the Lower 48 an education about Alaskan politics. I was familiar with geography of Alaska, even that "maritime border with Russia," but was ignorant of the political culture . . . until now. "Interesting," "fun," "chaotic," "unpredictable," and "full of colorful polical characters" are words that come to mind. Is this what our country was like in the 19th century before we became policy wonks or right-wing theocrats? Paul Benjamin Madison, WI

Video

This is VERY interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQGv7linCVY All of us know how silly this video is - but note how well it is produced. This is a slick, professional job and it would be very interesting to find out who financed this latest smear.

Obama

And still more disgusting tactics: The Obama camp has put out an email looking for a rape victim to appear in a campaign ad tied to the false story that Palin approved of Wasilla charging victims for evidence kits needed to pursue their cases. There is nothing behind this story but the media has ignored it. Now Obama is going to make a national issue of it while the Alaska media tries to prove that Todd Palin took a Sharpie from the state supply cabinet.

Only a fool makes claims without studying the evidence...

The Wasilla rape kit story is very real and thoroughly documented. Oh, and one of the best sources for that information is the "liberal" Frontiersman! (rofl) I guess that Palinbot kook-aid must alter brain chemistry so that it misinterprets "vapid" for facts. (Yes, a little harsher than previous comments but I detest it when people refuse to do the simple act of reading because it might conflict with their pathetically twisted reality.)

Rape kit

That right wing blog Slate disagrees: http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/xxfactor/archive/2008/09/26/debunk-a-bunk.aspx It looks like the Sarah Palin rape-kit myth is still alive and flourishing. A reader sent along this editorial in the New York Times today by Dorothy Samuels decrying the policy and asking Palin to give voters an explanation. Unfortunately, all this piece does is help perpetuate the myth. Thankfully, in addition to the blog posts I linked to in my first post about this, Jim Geraghty at the National Review Online has done his own thorough debunking, which I quote from below. Samuels writes: "[W]hen news of Wasilla's practice of billing rape victims got around, Alaska's State Legislature approved a bill in 2000 to stop it." However, the Alaska state legislature did NOT pass the bill in response to Wasilla's policy of charging rape victims. As Geraghty points out, the bill came about because hospitals were charging victims. As noted, there is a thorough study of the issue done on NRO: http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=ODA1YWM5ZjM2ZTU5ODliZTY2NTczMGUwZWYwNTVlMTQ=&w=MA== So far, virtually everyone - including you - has continued to perpetuate this disgusting myth with zero foundation.

Sticky Fingers

Actually JimAK...it was 6 sharpies, 2 sticky note pads, and a smidgeon of manilla envelopes....but who is counting!!!

Counting the hours til Thursday

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE VP DEBATE! Though they've allegedly made it tougher for exchanges between the two, Joe Biden is absolutely still going to tear her to shreds. She can't even answer fluff balls thrown at her by Katie Couric or Charlie Gibson. It will be classic. Maybe he should ask her about dinosaurs. Does McCrusty think we're stupid and we won't see who and what she really is? He has learned a painful lesson but can't take this one back. I'm not even an Obama supporter!

Sure

Yeah, right your not even an Obama supporter. Thats a good one. I can always tell what party they are, just by the comments they make.

Thursday

The big topic in the news on Thursday is going to be ...... Tony Rezko. He's going to sing like a bird in the next few days. Names will be named.

History

Or maybe you're just a sore loser, still trying to get even after being defeated by her in 2006. Consider retitling your website 'The Halcro Rear View Chronicle.

...I can see Russia from my rear view mirror...so that might make sense. AH

I think McCain has copyrighted that already, Jim.

Did you not notice McCain's wandering eyes during Palin's acceptance speech in Dayton? If not, I'd be glad to link it for you.

Reading over her shoulder

This is the problem with these blogs, anyone can post anything whether it is true or not. Senator McCain was reading Palin's speech over her shoulder, this has already been played out on the national media stage. Get your mind out of the gutter and into the real issues in this race; who is best able to lead this country during these very scary times for Americans? For all you armchair pundents out there, bet you were totally inexperienced the first time you walked into a new job; how did your career develop? On the job training? It is not a new concept and really the only one that works, you have to get experience before you are experienced. Oh and exactly what is Obama experienced to do? Would someone please provide a thoughtful, well researched, unbiased answer to this question? Vote Smart, check out www.votesmart.org

To Reading Over Her Shoulder...!!!!WOW!

Wow! Career development, on the job training? New Job? Since when did the qualifications for VP of the United States of America include becoming qualified after you've taken the position. That's the most absurd thing I've ever heard in my life! Would you say the same for a doctor who has never performed open heart surgery to perform on a person who needs a heart transplant, unless of course you want to DIE! Would you say the same for a lawyer who's never taken on a successful case to defend you in court, unless of course you want to go to JAIL? Would you say the same for almost any reputable career? Hell No! Your naive and you should be ashamed for even thinking that she is qualified enough to be in the 2nd highest position of power in the U.S. So what that she's a woman, a mother and a "normal" person? So is my mother but that doesn't give her qualities or qualifications to be the next VP of America. You people kill me! We're the laughing stock of the world because of people like you. Sarah Palin is as qualified as my 8 year old daughter..who I may add uses bigger words in her everyday vocabulary than this chick. Want to know Obama's qualification? Go to www.obama.com. Read & learn a little...

"On-the-Job Training"???

Do you honestly believe that this country can afford to have a Vice-President do on-the-job training?

Why not ?

Why not a vice president do on the job training? We had two presidents do on the job training in foreign policy. Ronald Regan former governor of California and Bill Clinton former governor of Arkansas, and they were presidents, she will only be a vice president.
