FERC's Bombshell: The oxygen sucked out of the room

I've never seen a public meeting end on such a dramatic note as Monday mornings legislative session featuring two officials from the Federal Energy Regulatory Agency.
In fact, their answer to the last question of the morning session silenced the room in a manner that seemed to indicate the information caught everyone, including TransCanada, including the Palin administration by complete surprise.
I mean it wasn't enough that over the previous two hours the FERC officials dispelled all of the propaganda peddled by AGIA's paid consultants about the protections that AGIA provides.
It wasn't enough that over the previous two hours the FERC officials silenced the fear mongering that lawmakers such as Rep. Les Gara have become famous for on the six o'clock news.
No that wasn't enough at all...those FERC guys had to inject one last fact into the mix that sent many away with long faces like someone had just stolen their lunch money.
Representative Ralph Samuels asked how the state could move forward and make this project happen. FERC replied quickly; get moving on the pre-filing, get moving on the project so we can start the process and begin this long journey.
"Has any company applied for that pre-filing?" Samuels followed up.
"Well as a matter of fact, we received a letter yesterday from the Denali Group stating they will make a pre-filing this week", said FERC official Mark Robinson.
The room went silent. In fact it was as if the oxygen had been sucked out of the entire Howard Johnson's Hotel.
Ladies and gentlemen, I was seated just three seats away from TransCanada's Tony Palmer and in the row right behind the Palin gas line team.....I'd vote to give them $500 million just to see that look on their faces again.
