Apparently, flip flops are fashionable for more than the Bridge to Nowhere.

Governor Palin on an independent investigation, Friday July 18, 2008 on the KTUU News: Palin said that she has nothing to hide."We would never prohibit, or be less than enthusiastic about any kind of investigation. Let's deal in the facts, and you do that via investigation," Palin said.

Governor Palin's attorney regarding the independent  investigation, Wednesday September 10, 2008 on the KTUU News: "Gov. Palin's private attorney is now calling the Legislature's investigation unconstitutional and unlawful."

I'm missing something here

Despite the Dept. of Law's memo to legislators about their grave concerns, I don't understand how CC'ing Todd Palin on matters related to a state employee's confidential personnel records is within the ambit of Palin's right to oversee executive branch employees. I agree with them on one thing: it's time to get the judicial branch involved for a declaratory judgment. Might as well make this as much of a free for all as possible. I wonder if Charles Gibson asks her about why she was willing to cooperate in July but not in September.

CC: Todd Palin

Maybe if Palin had some sort of legal background she would have known not to CC her hubby on government business emails. Of course most people have enough sense to figure that much out without a law school degree... Trouble is she wants to be the standby as leader of this country. Scary.

Until proven guilty

Let us not conclude the investigation via blogs. I have not been a supporter of Palin in Alaska. I know Palin was unfair on other government officials accused of alleged violations, but let us set the example of waiting for the conclusions of the investigation before we convict her. On the national stage under the "lesser of evils" philosophy, even if this Troopergate issue ends in "guilty," it is still mild compared to Barrack's escapades in Chicago. I sure wish there was an Andrew Halcro investigating Obama. He (Obama) would be toast if Andrew was on his trail. Andrew??? How about a couple juicy pieces on Obama/Biden??

Bush/Cheney all over again...

Claims of executive privilege, vendetta's, refusing to talk to the media, etc... Sounds kind of familiar doesn't it. Thanks Andrew for maintaining a reputable and honest blog. You have really stayed focused on what is really important here.

Any chance Sarah Palin will

Any chance Sarh Palin will meet with Steven Blanchflower while she's in Alaska? How about her husband Todd? Will he take this opportunity to meet with Blanchflower? Have her aides in the state government taken the opportunity to tell their story to Blanchflower or are they hiding behind a curtain?

Finally the truth...

I find it amazing that most people in Alaska can't see what is going on there. Before she was Governor...Sarah got a heads up...but power makes bigger fools of the foolish. An Anchorage judge three years ago warned Sarah Palin and members of her family to stop "disparaging" the reputation of Alaska State Trooper Michael Wooten, who at the time was undergoing a bitter separation and divorce from Palin's sister Molly. Allegations that Palin, her husband Todd, and at least one top gubernatorial aide continued to vilify Wooten—after Palin became Alaska's governor and pressured state police officials to take action against him—are at the center of "Troopergate," a political and ethical controversy which has embroiled Palin's administration and is currently the subject of an official inquiry by a special investigator hired by the state legislature. Court documents show that Judge Suddock was disturbed by the alleged attacks by Palin and her family members on Wooten's behavior and character. "Disparaging will not be tolerated—it is a form of child abuse," the judge told a settlement hearing in October 2005, according to typed notes of the proceedings. The judge added: "Relatives cannot disparage either. If this occurs the Palin's involved need to set boundaries for their relatives." Now if she had any sense at all...she would have said to one and all...I'm Governor and no one under any circumstance is to attempt to contact this man in anyway (Show some true leadership and also would have been the smart thing to do). But she chose to play the "pay back game" on behalf of her sister. If a judge tells you or I something to do and we go against his request...I dare say what the consequences would be. And tell the 10 Republican legislators on the committee that called for the investigation that they are biased.

tip of the iceberg

We elected her because she promised us open and honest government and an end to corruption. Ironic, isn't it? And she is running now for VP making those same promises. Look out folks!

Why???

So why don't you speak out then?? Why is it we only hear the good things about her? There are supposedly all kinds of reporters in Alaska, and all we here from the MSM is that she is wonderful. She has an well anywhere from 65% to 80% approval rating. I don't like what I read about her but so many people in the lower 48 saw her at the convention and that's all they saw, and they decided that was enough. They have believed the lies they have been told and keep being told and nothing helps because they keep hearing about the approval rating and that she is doing so much in Alaska that is wonderful. Just had to vent. Sorry, Thanks for letting me.

Thanks for listening, Annette

We are speaking out concerning the truth about Palin. The problem is that no one is listening. The MSM and national right wing talking heads took Palin's press kit and ran. "She says she's conservative? Oh, good! Let's talk about how conservative she is! And she's so cute!" I haven't heard one actual discussion about policy, just the broad brush strokes she has created. The left-leaning MSM are hitting her on all the wrong things, as they don't see a problem with her socialist/populist stances, or tax-and-spend-and-bribe-the-folks policies. People that don't have a clue about substance look at the family issues or her glasses, periphial things that don't tell us anything about her actual policies and how they have harmed Alaska, as if they're judging the fall American Idol lineup. The blind are leading the blind, and I'm loosing the small bit of faith I have in our system of government.

The Jet, Too

Also kind of ironic that she shows up back in Alaska with her shiny new jet. It's a lot beigger than Frank's, too.

jet

speaking of the jet (the old one, not her new 100 passenger luxury ride), it's too bad the real story of that hasn't been told. It is quite interesting.
