MONEGAN SPEAKS: Names Todd Palin & others

NEW! Subscribe to RSS Feed

Tonight on KTUU Channel 2 News, former Commissioner of Public Safety Walt Monegan broke his silence and admitted that he was pressured on numerous occasions by Todd Palin to fire State Trooper Mike Wooten.

Monegan said he met with Palin numerous times to talk about Wooten as well as Frank Bailey from the governor's office and Commissioner of Administration Annete Krietzer who also pressured him to fire Wooten.

It was just yesterday that Palin put out a press release that stated:

“To allege that I, or any member of my family, requested, received or released confidential personnel information on an Alaska State Trooper, or directed disciplinary action be taken against any employee of the Department of Public Safety, is, quite simply, outrageous.

Governor Palin lied. In fact Monegan stated in the KTUU interview that he finally told the administration that the conversations about firing Wooten had to stop.

We'll post more when the KTUU website is updated.

And just a note for all our skeptics and the Palin defenders since our story broke yesterday morning....here's looking at you kids.

One Good Thing

One good thing might come out of this-hopefully this will shut up the outside idiots that keep bringing up the gov's name as VP potential.

OOPS

What where you saing about VP ?

Don't worry. Only the

Don't worry. Only the uninformed or the totally delusional ever, ever thought the VP story was credible. Never was, not even close. So, don't worry about this one - it was never something that should have kept you up at night.

It's the wacko pro-lifers who have been promoting her for VP.

My husband and I have been busy spreading the word to the national news media about Palin's so-called "pro-life" agenda, which to her means fetal rights end at 36 weeks- the time at which she risked her son's life for the sake of self-promotion. If Palin's name really did appear on the radar screen they would have run with the story. Most of the reporters I personally spoke with were "shocked" by her behavior. Our local news media did nothing about it since they are riding the coat tails of Palin's 'popularity' and would not have wanted to upset her or lose readership. Popularity trumps common sense and public safety. Bottom line: rest easy. Palin's finished. Her national career will never take off and she knows it. Why do you think she looked so stressed at the ANWR conference? She's on a political "Road to Nowhere".

Sarah and Texas and babies

Does anyone remember how quickly Sarah's father was shut up when he proudly announced, on Channel 2 news, as he stood next to his wife who was holding the new little baby ... "Sarah said she sure wasn't going to have that baby in Texas ... she never would have lived that down!!" Meaning pretty much that no matter what, she was going to get on that plane (oh, and her dad also mentioned that her water had broken in Texas) and take a chance on her baby waiting to be born until it was more convenient. I waited to see that amazing news clip again. It was scrubbed.

Bridge to Alcatraz

Now there is a bridge I'd support for Todd and Sarah

Perfact Storm

Well folks...Just when we thought Vic Koring & Co's act couldn't possibly be one-uped...SURPRISE! Little Miss O&P (open & transparent) not only seems to have out done them for sleeze but has stired up what looks to be an even more odorous s..t storm. The question is, does what's left (if there is anyone) of those who can have the backbone to do anything about it?

The implications of this are far reaching...

1) The greatly imbalanced power between legislative and executive branches is now much more even, if not tilting toward legislators. They have been neutered for two years, and this was incredibly harmful to the people's right to a check and balance between branches. 2) The governor's new and even more slick brand of Teflon on issues and widespread lack of scrutiny by the press will undoubtedly be redefined as well. This too is healthy. 3) Her attempt to sway voters to certain candidates may no longer work; thus the legislative balance of power is likely to be different than it would otherwise have been. 4) Votes on AGIA and energy rebates will now likely be much less fettered by her "popularity" in the current special election. Healthy, healthy, healthy, even if they eventually go along with her. 5) Alaska, currently hosting a national conference of legislators, must look like an incredibly unlawful place, much like Chicago or New Orleans. Who isn't under suspicion, under indictment, convicted, in jail, or proven an outright liar on almost a daily basis? All because one Mr. Halcro used the power of "freedom of the press" and "freedom of speech" to bring information to the light of day. Quite a well done and important task. Many kudos! And thank god for the internet, which made this possible, in this day of lap dog media who routinely fail to investigate those they generally agree with.

We need the truth- now

There needs to be formal hearings led by an independent investigator to determine the truth. If true, Frank Bailey and Annette Kreitzer need to be fired, Todd Palin needs to be muzzled, and the governor needs to be censured and/or impeached. Why should anyone believe her on anything from this point on. Just like you can't be half pregnant, you can't be half honest. Shame on her for embarrassing the entire state. Shame on her for being a hypocrite.

There's no doubt in my mind

There's no doubt in my mind that Frank Bailey did everything he is accused of. His time at Alaska Airlines as a low level supervisor wasn't without similar problems. Ask some of the Ramp Agents who worked under him. If he didn't like someone, he would do the same nonsense to them. I am amazed that he was able to worm his way into that administration. Just like his time with Alaska Airlines, he won't contribute anything useful. The only way to get rid of him will be a monitary payoff or perhaps a shot of pennicillin.

I apologize for the actions of our Governor

Andrew- Please let me use your blog to apologize to Commissioner Monegan, Trooper Wooten, and all the men and women of the Department of Public Safety for the actions of our Governor. I didn't vote for her, but someone has to take responsibility for her actions - so I'll do my part: 1. I've contacted my representative and asked him to fully fund the Dept. of Public Safety budget. 2. As my symbolic demonstration of support, if the Governor actually gives each Alaskan a check for $1200, I will donate my check to the Department of Public Safety. I didn't move to Alaska for "free" money. I moved here because of the quality of life. Again, I apologize for the actions of our Governor.

If people still cannot see

If people still cannot see that we need an independant investigation about this, they are either fools or lying to themselves. We need to get to the bottom of this issue. Thanks Andrew, for all the hard work to get this far!

Oh gee, one guy said it so it must be true

Of course Monegan is a saint, and has no axe to grind. Kinda like you. So just a note to you Andy, still innocent until proven guilty. But you of course still are pissed she thrashed you so you will tilt at her windmill forever. You were a do nothing legislator so now you run daddy's business and live next to mommy and daddy and blast away hoping that maybe you might get double digits next time you run. Good thing you have all their money to spend.

Andrew's Response:

Pssst....check out my latest blog. Both Palin's lied and now it is official after Monegan broke his silence.

Oh yeah...but keep blaming me....that's brilliant.

Do you know how many businesses in this country...

are run by the founders' children, grandchildren, and so on? I've known a few, and let me tell you the pressure is there. Those that founded these companies, built them from scratch, have awfully big shoes to fill. Perhaps Halcro was "handed" a business from his father, but he has equal opportunity to make it succeed or fail as a non-dependent would. Is that the best you can do, lambaste Halcro for crimes committed by Palin & Co? Palin won the election on a platform of openness and transparency and it appears as those that only applies to others.

Pathetic

Buddy, is the "Andrew works in the family business" the best you can do? I grew up on a farm and worked in THAT family business...got a problem with that? What next??? "Your mother wears army shoes" for the insult of the day? If you're gonna put somethng out there try & make since or at least something past second grade. We're not laughing with you it's at you.

The thinking of the "New Alaskan"

He's not pathetic. He's representative of the "New Alaskan" who thinks government should give him a check every year just for living here and the government should subsidize any increase in the cost of living. The Alaskan dream used to be to come to the state and build something you could pass along to the next generation so they can live here and add to the legacy--just like Andrew's parents have done. Now we have the whining entitlement crowd that believes the State is responsible for everything and Mat-Su Barbie is their leader. She can buy their votes and loyalty by promising big checks, but she is not willing to adequately fund public safety. People are now realizing that beyond the "cute" she is a self-absorbed person of low caliber with no moral or ethical grounding Next week she may announce a new give-away as poltical cover. Ah yes, I can hear the lower-48 trailer parks emptying now.

Where did that come from?

I've been here longer than Andy, my parents have been here longer than Andy's, so how does that make me a new Alaskan? How does my suggesting we wait until the information is all out before we convict Palin make me a "New Alaskan?" What a phenomenal non sequitor. I didn't vote for her anyway, I'm just suggesting maybe we might wait before we condemn. I think they used to call that a lynch mob.

Thanks, I thought it was brilliant too

I may have missed the sworn testimony or court proceedings where we had definitive proof that both Palins lied. Please do point that out to us when you have it. I mean I know you are the smartest guy in the room and all, but maybe you just forgot to post that. I mean certainly if Monegan says so it must be true. So, psssst, until you do, just go back to running daddy's company and whining. After all it's what you do best. Whining that is.

Andrew's Response:

Take a deep breath....the legislature will soon appoint an investigator...and you'll be put out of your misery.

give me

a break. Andrew has done Alaska a great service. Now go back out and lube your tractor or milk your cow. I for one am thankful Andrew's father provided for him. I hope to do the same for my clan. God speed Andy!!

So everyone is a liar with the exception of...

the Palin's? The FBI sure is busy up here!

Just find the truth

You are too quick to condemn, maybe I'm to quick to defend, but in reality neither of us knows the truth. Let's let cooler heads prevail and see what happens. The truth will out as some wise man once said.

Andrew's response:

The truth will come out. And I'm proud to say it will because of this blog.

Oh sweet Jesus of Nazareth

What an ego. You really think this story wouldn't have come out otherwise? Gee whiz, with that ego you should run for office. Oh wait, you did and were a completely ineffective legislator. Oh please run again so you can get up on the floor of the House and rant but not get anything of any consequence passed. Do you ever stop to think why a lot of people don't like you? For the most part people don't like extreme arrogance. That's why you got stomped when you ran for Governor. Try it again and the same thing will happen. I do so look forward to that day.

Andrew's Response:

Geez...lets see...I posted my blog on Thursday morning bringing up the abuse of power with the Palin folks trying to get Monegan to fire Trooper Wooten. Thursday night it was the lead story of every station's evening news....24 hours later Monegan breaks his silence  and states that the Palin folks did pressure him to fire Wooten.

Yes I really do think that if I hadn't blogged about Monegan geting pressure it never would have come out. After all, show me one news story that mention Wooten before my blog.

And it must make you feel real good to hang out on the blog of a guy you don;t like.

Grow up and get a life.

Um you should check out the

Um you should check out the blogs posted on ADN's story about Walt getting fired which was before your blog. There were lots of us who knew about the situation and spoke out then. So no you were not the first. Sorry on that one.

I might not have been the first one...but I was the first one to generate the media coverage. I posted the blog at 1am on Thursday morning and by 10am every news media outlet in town and the associated press was calling to inquire. It also precipitated the PSEA press conference.

What's important is that the story finally got into the main stream media.

Too much fun

I think what I like best is the Pavlovian response of the "smartest" man in the room who takes the bait every time. Your ego just can't help it and your sycophantian toadies (your HalcroMagnons) join in. The saddest thing to me is the fact that you certainly are strutting around with glee today because you finally "got her." No sadness like many felt after Watergate, but just glee. It would have come out, whether it was true or not. The story about Monegan and why he was asked to go was not dying down at all, and at some point it would have come out, sorry to disappoint.

Its True!

If Andrew had not broke the story on this blog, it would not have been written. So it is written, so it shall be done!

Oh B.S.

KTVA was putting it together at the same time. Don't give Handy Andy too much credit. He already solved world hunger and invented the internet.

Wow

I TiVo'd it. You were right, Andrew. You've been vindicated. Thank you for taking a stand and the heat that comes with it. Let the chips fall where they may.

Nice job Andrew. Thanks for

Nice job Andrew. Thanks for asking the questions. Keep up the good work.

The can of worms has turned into a keg of snakes.....

and it's getting worse by the minute! Thankfully I can access your website from my iPhone. We have been waiting for the truth to unfold for months now. I'm just sorry you've had to take flack for reporting the bad behaviors of others that should have been investigated months ago by our trusty local 'journalists'. So much for not shooting the messenger.
