Parsing Palin

Shortly after the PSEA released documents concerning the the long history of complaints filed against State Trooper Mike Wooten by Governor Palin and her family, the governor issued a press release denying the allegations that have been raised.
The governor's press release raises more questions and demands a response. (my comments in bold.)
July 17, 2008, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin today released the following statement regarding allegations that she acted improperly.
“As governor, I expect a certain amount of criticism. When I took the oath of office, I even encouraged Alaskans to ask me questions, to hold me accountable. But some critics have taken this to ridiculous extremes that threaten to distract from the vital business currently facing the state and its residents.
Any distraction from the vital business currently facing the state and its residents was created by the governor herself when she fired Commissioner Walt Monegan without an explanation. She had him fired on a Friday by an acting staffer, knowing she'd be out of town and unable to offer Alaskans an explanation about why he was fired.
“To allege that I, or any member of my family, requested, received or released confidential personnel information on an Alaska State Trooper, or directed disciplinary action be taken against any employee of the Department of Public Safety, is, quite simply, outrageous. Any information regarding personnel records came from the trooper himself. I question the timing of these false allegations. It is unfortunate, as we seek to address a growing energy crisis in this state, that this matter has been raised now.
In my interview with Trooper Wooten, he stated that he only gave permission to his ex-wife's lawyer to view his work file, not his AI file.
In addition, these allegations were set in motion by the governor firing Monegan without reason. These allegations didn't come out of the blue, due to some sinister timing plot, they came out because of the governor and her family had a history of filing endless complaints against Wooten and it is believed to have had a role in last weeks termination of Monegan.
Also, attempting to somehow say that these allegations have any impact on the current discussion regarding energy issues is completely without merit. The legislature is debating these issues and the questions being asked about Monegan and Wooten have no impact on the legislative process.
“I do not interfere with the day-to-day operations of any department. Former Commissioner Monegan was not released due to any actions or inaction related to personnel issues in his department. We had hoped the former commissioner would have stayed in state service to help fight alcohol-related crime. We offered him the position of executive director of the Alcoholic Beverage Control board and, unfortunately, he turned it down.
The former Commissioner was not released due to any actions or inaction related to personnel issues? The governor has told us what he didn't get fired for; now how about if she tells us what he did get fired for.
Also, offering Monegan a lower position was simply insulting. Especially since the governor never told him what he was getting fired for in the first place.
I would imagine if someone went to a governor and said, "Hey, we want to go in a different direction, but we'd still like to keep you on as Deputy Commissioner of Transportation", I'm thinking the governor would say no as well.
“I have and will continue to support our line troopers. They have my utmost respect. Since taking office, I have proposed to the legislature millions of dollars in budget increases for more troopers, equipment and training. My administration just completed contract negotiations providing increased wages and other benefits.
“Nothing will distract me from improving public safety. Commissioner Kopp shares my vision for filling vacant positions and reducing crime across the state.
“The Department of Public Safety is a professional organization. We have good men and women protecting our families. Troopers are our first line of defense and will always have my full support.”
If the Troopers truly have the full support of the governor, then they deserve to be told why she just fired a boss they liked.
