Rumors, thoughts and just plain lies

With special investigator Steve Branchflower now on the job and soliciting tips through an anonymous tip line as to why Monegan got fired, I thought we'd throw out two of the more interesting theories we've heard over the last few days from various sources that have not been verified.
The disappearance of traffic tickets given to the governor or the failure to give the governor traffic tickets for moving violations such as having her child in a proper restraint.
The governor's propensity for calling her security detail and telling them that she was in a hurry and did not want to be stopped for speeding on her drive into Anchorage.
Both issues were apparently being challenged by Monegan.
She said...She said
On why she fired Monegan:
"I was concerned also that we were not doing enough on continuing alcohol abuse issues that I wanted to see tackled, including the bootlegging issues in rural Alaska" Governor Palin 8/13/08
On the position she offered Monegan after she fiired him as commissioner:
"I recognized that Walt's interests and strengths could be put to good use as he could concentrate exclusively on a couple of issues that were his interest, that be bootlegging and alcohol problems in rural Alaska" Governor Palin 7/18/08
So after firing Monegan for not doing enough to contain alcohol abuse and bootlegging in rural Alaska, she turned around and offered him a job to work on solving alcohol abuse and bootlegging in rural Alaska?
On why she fired Monegan:
"Unfortunately as my term progressed, Commissioner Monegan was not making headway on key goals, such as filling numerous trooper vacancies." Governor Palin 8/13/08
What she said in her State of the State speech:
"In Public Safety and Corrections, after years of positions left vacant, we've doubled academy recruits." Governor Palin 1/15/08
So after telling Alaskans that Monegan had doubled academy recruits to fill vacancies, she turns around and says she fired Monegan because he wasn't attracting recruits to fill vacancies?
My head hurts.
She said....He said
"Walt Monegan, after initially saying he couldn’t discuss the Wooten situation because it’s a personnel matter, he then flip-flopped, he started talking about it publicly." Governor Palin 8/13/08
Monegan only started talking about it publicly after getting kick around in the public by Palin while he was holding his tongue. She went on radio shows and accused him of being too cozy with the unions, she spread lies about him not doing his job when in fact he got fired for doing his job. Just not the way Palin wanted him to do it which included getting rid of her ex-brother in law.
This is what Monegan said in explaining why he broke his silence on July 19, 2008: "I'm watching the stresses put on everyone I used to work with. And, these guys are good people," he said. "This may be one of the few things, one of my last things, to support them.
Frank Bailey
If this guy doesn't get fired there is something definitely wrong. If the governor is as outraged as she said after finding out that Bailey called Trooper Dial and falsely represented that he was calling on the governor and her husbands behalf, the guy should have been fired by the governor before she was done listening to that 24 minute recorded phone call ended.
The problem for Palin is Bailey knows way too much.
And his involvement is very clear in the Wooten matter as he reveals in his recorded phone conversation that a number of people disagree with the idea that Monegan needs to take action and he continues to try and push the issue.
In addition, this once again brings up the question about the 1100 emails that this administration refuses to release. Most of them were generated by Bailey or included Bailey on the conversation string.
We've already posted two emails where Bailey appears to be coordinating a job offer with Bill McAllister while McAllister was still covering the Palin administration for KTUU and assisting a Palin campaign supporter a job with the DOT in Fairbanks.
Bailey holds more power than Palin's Chief of Staff.
Can anybody ever remember any administration where the Director of Boards & Commissions held so much sway within an administration?
Not in this political lifetime.
Mike Tibbles
Word is that after yesterday's press conference where poor Mike Tibbles name was tossed around like a football, the guy can't wait to get some face time with Branchflower.
Ditto for others who aren't saying much but when put under subpoena will sing like canaries.
Legislative Council
The legislative council meets Monday (8/18/08) at 10am, downtown at the LIO to get a briefing from special investigator Steve Branchflower.
One lawmaker has said they will talk about creating a list of individuals to subpoena and wants the governor at the top of the list.
The governor on the radio
I received a couple of emails today from people who had heard Palin on the Bob & Mark show this morning and then again on the Eddie Burke show this afternoon. These shows are Palin's safe havens. Her sanctuary when she wants to poke her head out but only in very friendly confines.
One reader emailed:
Andrew, Did you happen to listen to KWHL's Bob and Mark show this morning, after about 8:30? The doting guys were "interviewing" their buddy Sarah, y'know, about all this, y'know, "crap" being said about her... [her dialogue always sounds like Jr.High kids chatting]. And they were gently trying to coax her honest "real" reasons for letting Monegan go... How entertaining.
I grew up in the land of the original "valley girl" dialect (Southern California, near the San Fernando Valley, which is the "valley" that the original phrase was coined after), and like guy, y'know, she sounds just soooooo, like, y'know, one of them. Right out of any scene in the wonderfully mocking comedy "Clueless" a few years ago! Y'know?
As the governor you'd think she'd accept all offers but she has consistently turned down offers to appear on other shows.
Last month KENI afternoon host Mike Porcaro invited Palin to appear as a guest after the Monegan scandal broke and was told no because she was forbidden to speak about personnel issues.
However on that same day, she was yucking it up in the morning with Bob & Mark as well as Eddie Burke in the afternoon while discussing the Monegan firing; the very thing Porcaro was told she couldn't dicsuss.
Palin doesn't venture out to shows outside her comfort zone, because she is afraid that Porcaro and others will ask her tough questions on the air that she'll be forced to answer.
The governor is no Saracuda...she's more like Saraleecupcake.
