It's a good feeling to be surrounded by fellow Alaskans that take the time and energy to be informed on the important issues facing our state.
The 'Alaskans for Truth' rally was an uplifting event chock full of interesting well-known individuals and plain old everyday citizens explaining their point of view.
As I stood on the park strip today soaking up the sun and reading clever signs, I wondered if our Governor would take heed and listen to her constituents asking her to cooperate and be accountable.
Call me a pessimist, but I fear she will not. I think she has her eye on higher office and is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve her goal. Now is not a good time to talk about why she and her staff were scratching their collective heads wondering why a certain Trooper (and ex-family member) hadn't been fired.
On the bright side, I think some good things will come of these ugly recent events. An AP reporter walking by asked me if I thought Alaska needed to elect their Attorney General. I laughed, "Ya think?" Yeah, I think that's a really, really good idea, mister reporter guy.
I told him I also think it should be required that elected officials use a state server when conducting state business. No more Yahoo! accounts, please.
Promises to be ethical, open, honest, transparent... et cetera are nice and all, but unfortunately, it takes more than promises to ensure good government. Sarah Palin is proof of that.
