"There needs to be an adult in the house"

(4/7/09) "There needs to be an adult in the house." Arguably, never has nine words uttered by a politician turned out so very hollow.

Those words spoken by Governor Sarah Palin back in June of 2007 when she vetoed money from the capital budget, should be equally applicable to her own actions.

While we have stayed far away from commenting on the pregnancy, this post isn't about that. After all, as parents, there by the grace of God go all of us.

It's not about what the former boyfriend said when he appeared on a national talk show, where intimate details were shared with the entire world.

It's not about a young mother who was uncomfortably thrust into the national spotlight by her mother.

It's about reading the response from the governor and asking; who is the adult in her house?

The response from Palin spokesperson Meg Stapleton concerning Levi Johnston's tell all interview with Tyra Banks was shockingly amateurish and raises significant questions about a 45 year old governor attacking an 18 year old through her media mouthpiece.

"We're disappointed that Levi and his family, in a quest for fame, attention, and fortune, are engaging in flat-out lies, gross exaggeration, and even distortion of their relationship," Stapleton said. "It is unfortunate that Levi finds it more appealing to exploit his previous relationship with Bristol than to contribute to the well-being of the child."

Wow, "a quest for fame, attention and fortune?" That seems unduly harsh given recent history.

After all, wasn't Levi the same young man that Palin proudly paraded up on stage in front of God and country as her future son in law when she needed to satisfy her own "quest for fame, attention and fortune?"

Yes it was.

Is this the governor's idea of being the adult in the house?

Who is she kidding

Of course the kid lived in the house with Bristol, who is Palin trying to kid?? Levi lived with Bristol, they shared a bedroom before the baby came. What is with Palin, does she think kids don't talk? Palin is a huge scandal cranking machine rather than any kind of political machine. It's such a joke. She will be in for a rude rude awakening if she thinks she has a spit of a chance running for govenor or any political office in Alaska.

Good Advice Should Have a Longer Half-Life Than Six Months

Then **** Governor Palin - VP Candidate October 2008: "After being found guilty on seven felony counts, I had hoped Senator Stevens would take the opportunity to do the statesman-like thing and erase the cloud that is covering his Senate seat," Palin said in a written statement. "He has not done so. Alaskans are grateful for his decades of public service but the time has come for him to step aside.” And Now **** Governor Palin – “”MatZoo Mother Of the Year”” candidate April 2009: "After being found guilty of embarrassing Alaska, my family and particularly all literate valley residents, I take the opportunity to do the stateswoman-like thing and erase the cloud that is covering my office and the financial viability of Alaska," Palin said in a written statement. "I leave knowing Alaskans will be repairing Alaska for decades after my public self-service and the time has come for me to step aside.” Just a dream that perhaps Alaska’s nightmare could end.

Update--Palin denying that Levi Lived with them-

When a reporter stopped Levi, as he was pulling out in his truck, he asked how often he gets to see Tripp. Levi responded that he gets to see him often- but "not as often since I moved out". Since Levi's interview on Tyra- the Palin camp released a statement saying that he never lived in the Palin home!!!! Palin's denying - Palin's lying!! ....Believer in Truth, Integrity and Ethics

Sarah Palin

There has been nothing in her past or present to indicate that she's an adult in anyway. Not in her family life, Not in her personal life, Not in her public life. Sarah Palin is a Scandal Factory

Adults in Juneau

Ted Stevens for Governor, that would give us the maturity & direction we need for this state government...

Ethics Issues - Demand Action Sarah - Follow your own advice

Given all the ethics scandals surrounding Sarah Palin, shouldn't she step down for the sake of all Alaskans? We could then have a special election and Ted could run, win, save the oil and gas business, clean house on DOR, DNR and bring life to the scorched earth Palin has created in this state. Other than predator control, she has been a walking disaster.

Failing Palin

I never have liked Sarah Palin. Never impressed with her"faith" or her "family values". In my mind she put herself before her family. I am the first to say that women should be given the same opportunities as men. However women have different responsibilities then men and need to attend to family first. It was not so much the Bristol situation that I was angry about, it was her own son. I don't feel that she took the responsibilities of her own son's needs seriously and then carted him all over the country. She did the same with Bristol and Piper. The fact that she lies about bridges and pipelines just adds to my disgust. Her spokesperson if paid by the state should only be commenting on this current situation. I wonder why the Palin's thought it was OK for her daughter to appear on Fox News and yet the young man is not allowed to speak? This is a situation that should not be newsworthy at all. The fact that Palin cannot handle this situation of her own making just reinforces my own first opinion, that this women is not, nor will ever be ready for Prime Time!!!!!

Disgusting

Share a bedroom, I mean come on, share a bedroom with other children in the house? Disgusting. I don't know why the kid would lie, his answers were pretty spot on. Palin's family was warned by the judge during her sister's custody case to put the child's needs first and not interfere with parenting of the other parent. Yeah, right. There is an article from CBS that states Palin's rating with ALaskans is still 60 percent. Where in the hell do those figures come from? The Alaskans I talk to can't wait for the Palins to vacate the govenorship.

Sarah Palin sets a good example...

of what a mother shouldn't do. Shame on you, Sarah.

There is a Governor in the house,,. She should know better

It's all about appearances for Palin. She states she's for strong family values...yet lets her daughters boyfriend live with her in her room. That's not about teen's fooling around and not understanding the consequences. Sure about half the kids probably aren't exactly planned. However, most of the parent's weren't letting their teens have bf's spend the night together in their room. That kind of parenting is far from anyone's definition of strong family values. Palin's family was warned by the judge during her sister's custody case to put the child's needs first and not interfere with parenting of the other parent. From the looks of things, Palin isn't applying those words to matters surrounding baby Tripp. Keeping Levi from taking the baby from the home and allowing them to take pictures of the baby- is certainly crossing some lines. Unless the Palins have serious reasons to be concerned about Levi having normal visitation rights- and plan on seeking to remove his given rights as father- he needs to be given normal visitation without odd restrictions. (If there is some overwhelming concern about the child's safety then they should have filed papers with the court to restrict visitations. There is a GOVERNOR in the house- and she should know better than to allow that parental alienation to continue!! If they don't do what's right, perhaps some parental alienation custody lawyer will step up and help Levi and Tripp. --Believer in Truth, Integrity and Ethics
