Black Helicopters: Van Susteren, Scientology and SarahPac

NEW! Subscribe to RSS Feed

It's Friday and instead of posting yet another blog about government, I thought I'd change it up.

This week I caught wind of an intriguing story about politics and friendships and simply couldn't stop myself from doing some sleuthing to see if the story had any legs.

Oh yeah it has legs and a big checkbook along with a devotion to L. Ron Hubbard.

The black helicopter is about to depart.....are you getting on?

(2/20/09) The media like every industry is highly competitive. Getting a highly sought after story or interview is ratings gold.

So the question has to be asked; why has Fox News Greta Van Susteren been consistently striking it rich when it comes to getting exclusive interviews with Governor Palin?

Van Susteren landed Palin's first interview after she returned home from her Vice Presidential run in November and this past week Van Susteren landed the first public media appearance by the governor's daughter and grandson.

From snowmobiling and cooking moose hot dogs in Wasilla, to greeting racers at the end of the Iron Dog in Fairbanks, Van Susteren has had more one on one face time with Palin than most State commissioners.

So what's the reason?

A theory emerged this week that Van Susteren's husband, John Coale, a powerful Washington D.C. trial lawyer, is enamored by Palin and put up the cash to create SarahPac. Also, the fact that Van Susteren and her husband are strong followers of Scientology appears to add some sub text to the story line.

The couple's relationship to Scientology has been well covered in the media and on blogs. While at CNN, Van Susteren was accused of pressuring management to kill a story critical of scientology. Coale has represented the interests of the church in various lawsuits, including a suit against the makers of Ritalin.

Coale is a big Democrat player and was a huge supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton during the Democratic Primary. After Clinton lost in the primary, Coale complained of sexism, and said the Democratic Party was “being taken over by the moveon.org types”  according to a Newsweek article.

Why was Coale a Hillary supporter?

During President Clinton's terms, his administration was friendly towards Scientology as a bi-product of hanging with the Hollywood crowd.

According to a 1998 New York Post article, President Bill Clinton promised John Travolta that the Administration would work with the German government to advance acceptance of Scientology in that country if Travolta would soften up his portrayal of the Clinton character in Primary Colors.

Travolta is among Hollywood's most tireless missionaries for Scientology.

Afterwards, Clinton's National Security Adviser Sandy Berger and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright met with German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel to urge his government to moderate its opposition to Scientology.

On September 1, 2008 , Coale announced he was supporting John McCain for president. Now why would a Democratic supporter and high-level scientologist abruptly switch support to the McCain/Palin ticket?

When Hillary Clinton lost her bid, Coale began looking for a candidate that would be friendly towards Scientology because Obama was not.

While some of this can be debated, one thing cannot be; John Coale has become a close and personal friend of the governor.

On October 22, 2008 the Baltimore Sun reported this blurb in their politics section:

So there's John P. Coale the big-time-Democratic-fundraiser-turned-Mc Caniac, in the spin room after last week's presidential debate. Signs announce the various campaign surrogates offering their opinions on who'd won. He spots one with a familiar name; Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley.

Coale, a trial lawyer, gave O'Malley a $500,000 loan in the waning days of his campaign for governor. Coale and the gov supported Hillary Clinton in the primary. But they haven't seen eye to eye on the race since September, when Coale "came out," as he puts it, for John McCain.

So these two were not about to talk politics. Better to take up some less awkward topic, like that unusual lapel pin Coale was sporting. It was blue, with eight stars, representing the Big Dipper and the North Star.

Coale said it was the Alaska flag.

"Sarah Palin gave me this," he told them.

Coale has traveled with the McCain campaign and has spent time with Palin, whom he has found to be smart and fun to be around.

But he got the pin from his wife, Fox newswoman Greta Van Susteren. She'd brought it back from a trip to Alaska and told her husband that Palin had given it to her to give to him. But Coale later found out the pin didn't come from Palin. Van Susteren was just teasing Coale, who admits to being "enamored" of Palin.

He still tells people the pin is "a gift from my girlfriend," and he doesn't mean Van Susteren. Is Greta OK with that? "She knows it," he said.

On January 7, 2009, the Washington Times quoted Coale in a story about how some non Obama supporters were leaving Washington D.C.  to avoid the inauguration.

"I am getting as far from D.C. as I can. I may go to Alaska and see Sarah," says John Coale, referring to Mr. McCain's Alaskan running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin.

There certainly appears to be a real connection between Coale and Palin and it would appear that Van Susteren and Palin have forged a relationship that allows for special access.

We attempted to review the Federal Election Commission data base to see if there was any Coale connection to SarahPac, however the groups first public disclosure doesn't occur until April.

John Coale can be seen standing in the background during last weeks Iron Dog finish. (Thanks to an eagle eyed reader for the picture)

Until next time, thank you for flying with us.

I wondered why Greta has been salivating over ALL the Palins

To me, Greta seemed to go through some sort of bizarre transformation when she began interviewing the Palins. Greta seemed like a giddy school girl while in their kitchen eating moose chili and hotdogs. It was certainly and odd "interview".In the more recent interviews with Palin, when Sarah goes off track- Greta feeds her answers. During her interview with Bristol, she misses obvious questions -but doesn't miss out on an opportunity to ask how "First Dude" is doing in the race. I thought the way she flirted with Todd was disturbing- and i wouldn't appreciate someone behaving like that around my husband. (Oh first Dude.., heehee, Can we go faster on the snow machine?, heheee, Oh, you're smiling, hehehe,) Now with the info on how Greta's husband is so taken with Sarah- I wonder if they are hoping the first couple swings! Creepy (Even if Sarah and Greta were sisters - she should show more composure when interviewing her. It's not all all professional.) -----Believer in Truth, Integrity and Ethics

Whatever

I really don't care who the Gov hangs out with(excluding ax murderers or drug kingpins). That's her business. I just wish she would get to work and start to govern this state the way it needs to be governed.

Wish List

I wish I was 25 again yet knew what I know now. I wish my dad would have bought land outside Branson, Missouri when I was 12 (he could have) for $50 / acre and I wish this state had decient leadership too. The first things on my list have no chance of happening and the last...I have more faith in potty training ducks.

Is there no shame?

Palin's cast of characters...These are perverted relationships to a woman clearly with some real ethics problems and a danger to the state, country, world and herself 'also'

Users

Seems easy enough to me. They are all using each other in hopes of ultimitly using all of us to go along with them to validate their illisions of what reality should be. Sarah is pallin' around with the son of God, Franklin Graham. I can still see Billy and W. standing on the White House steps just before shock and awe. The King says kill 'em and God is standing there to say it is OK. They only manipulate each other in hopes of getting their shot at manipulating us. Capitalism is dead, long live Capitalism. Who will be the one to bring Lazarus back to life this time? Could it be little Esther, I mean Sarah? This is getting funnier by the day. Shakespeare would be awe.

Andrew Halcro wins an award!

On TeamPalin!! "'Most Deranged Palin Derangement Syndrome...EVER!!! (wait till you all see this!) Posted by BlueStateBilly on February 20, 2009 at 2:38pm in All About Sarah Palin Ladies and Gentlemen, in the PDS sweepstakes we have a winner. And his name is Andrew but unbelievably enough, it's not Sullivan (yeah, I'm shocked too.) It's Andrew Halcro, whoever the hell that is.'..." And they are sending out an all-point bulletin to attack. Oh those cute little Palin cheerleaders didn't like this blog! Keep up the good work, Andrew

We must be making someone nervous....Andrew

Keep it up!

Keep it up!

Halcro has nothing to worry about....

The collective IQ of the TeamSarah cult is about 60, give or take a few points. They'll come here, read a few posts, and not know what the hell Halcro's talking about. These people are typical "People" magazine readers: they want gossip and the personal stuff, they don't want to read about policy, and they won't understand it either. And Halcro doesn't bring up the "A" word.

Okay, I give up...

What's the "A" word?

Think...

Roe v. Wade. Something Halcro doesn't discuss on his blog and the ONLY issue GINO-bots care about.

Oh.

I think you can write the word 'abortion' here. Andrew talks a lot about the state constitution.... particularly the part about privacy. Last I knew, young girls in Alaska can still have an abortion, without parental consent even. Palin has done nothing to stop that.

Yes, of course.

But remember the TeamSarah folks look specifically for the A word in their searches, since it's the ONLY thing they care about. I'm a pro-choice Republican (if there is such a thing anymore otherwise I consider myself "politically homeless") so I don't care about bedroom politics. GINO won't do anything about parental consent because it would cause her to lose her Dem support, which she badly needs for the promotion of the failure known as AGIA.

In the picture that is John

In the picture that is John Coale Greta's other 1/2 and look he is the only one wearing "slacks" in the freezing cold. I wonder if Sarah Knows about his stand on guns ( http://www.holysmoke.org/cos/john-coale-ambulance-chaser.htm ) he has been looking to sue gun manufacturers and is pro gun control. Something smells fishy to me...

Coale is a PUMA

John Coale is one of the founders of the PUMA group: "Party Unity My A**"--a group of Hillary supporters who were angry after the primaries by her treatment by the media and other Dems. They vowed to support McCain, and this was before Palin was ever announced. Check out their site, www.hillbuzz.wordpress.com Most of them do have an affinity for Palin though. Greta said the reason she gets interviews with Palin is that she's willing to go to Alaska to get them. Many others want interviews with the Gov., but they want her in their studios, like O'Reilly, Oprah, Barbara Walters, etc., and she's not willing to go.

If there's money and a camera, she'll be there

John Coale and Greta = Money and camera. Franklin Graham = Money and camera.

Scientology

I am at a lost of how access to the Governor by Greta Van Susteren leads to some sort of endorsement by her in terms of Scientology? As someone with a visceral animosity towards that cult, I am quite cognizant of its history and the Clinton era efforts on its behalf.(here in South Florida Republican Congresswoman Ros Lehtinen has also undertaken legislation on their behalf) The Coale linkage in terms of money is more comprehensible...but is that alien, no pun intended? That cuts across the divide of both parties. Greta is favorable towards the Governor, no doubt, but how about liberal journalists who fawn over Obama and similarly got/get access to the candidate (during '08) and now in the administration? MSM journalists disproportionately give to Liberals/Democrats, as do the Hollywood elite.

Fawning over Obama

What does one thing have to do with the other? The subect is Palin and Van Susteren, not Obama. Why is it that when someone critisizes Palin, Obama is brought up? She is a nut case and doesn't need any help along that line, I doubt that Palin has ever had a serious thought about Baptists, much less Scientology.

Deception, thy name is Sarah.

Who is Sarah "paling around" with these days? And how does this fit in with her evangelical Christian views? People that don't believe in Jesus, heaven or hell? Her evangelical friends should be furious. Or will they deny/accept this from sister Sarah? Of course, she will spin it so that she is trying to convert them. She always seems to attract the big money from all different sources. Paling around with Malek and John Coale, I think that Sarah has bigger plans then being Governor of Alaska. The oddest thing I found was that a Fox News reporter was married to a Hilary Clinton supporter. Great job in ferreting out all this info!

It's certainly believable

Let's face it, Greta isn't exactly a beauty queen despite all that plastic surgery she's had since her days of covering the OJ trial. Her hubby probably is a bit smitten like many others in this state. When I ask people why they voted for her for Governor, the response I get most often is, "she's hot." Sorry Andrew, but I have to agree with a something the Daily News editorial board said. "The smartest kid in the class lost to the most popular kid in the class."

Mmmmmm,

Mr. Coale appears to be the of the correct age and gender of Palin's biggest fans, doesn't he?

Isn't this him... in the background, dressed in black looking towards Sarah at the Finish Line of the Iron Dog in Fairbanks?

Visitor...

Perhaps you could submit this photo to "To catch a Predator" or www.perverted-justice.com because that's what the guy in this photo looks like. IMO he appears to be lovestruck, just not sure of which Palin. Gross.

Ewwwwwwww

Mr Coale seems to be standing with his hands deep in his pockets while staring at his girlfriend,Sarah. I'm just sayin' !

Oh, the tangled web she weaves.....

Hmmm....SarahPAC supported by Scientology? Did anyone bother to tell GINO (Governor In Name Only) that L. Ron Hubbard supported legalized abortion? I googled Scientology and found this quote: "Early in his research into Dianetics (www.dianetics.org), Mr. Hubbard noticed the frequency with which illegal abortion attempts appeared in the cases of individuals, and the trauma and suffering that was commonly associated with that. Having abortion clinics that administer this procedure in a hygienic and peaceful setting saves lives, and prevents tragedies." So I suppose we can safely assume GINO supports legalized abortion. And Hollywood celebrities who support Obama. It looks like GINO will say or believe anything for a buck. I guess that makes her like all the others "inside the beltway."

Why?

Why would a committed liberal Democrat endorse and financially support a Republican? It's only possible if the Republican is the new breed of "Progressive Republican". In teleprompter words, Governor Palin is a fiscal and social Conservative. In actions, however, our Governor is a strong and resolute fiscal and social Liberal. This is the new "Progressive Republican" face of the Republican party, formerly called "RINO's". By the way: has the new "Progressive Republican" women's club in the Valley, started by Sarah's family and friends, gained official status yet?
